Detail Amount Notes

Why your numbers might differ Every system sheds and absorbs heat differently—mash tun material, probe placement, dough-in speed, even how hard you stir. That’s why strike temps are an estimate. Use the Heat Balance Constant (K) in the Advanced drop down to tune the math to your rig: Brew as usual and record grain temp, strike temp, and the actual mash rest temp after it stabilizes. If you land hot, lower K a bit. If you land cool, raise K. Do this once or twice and lock in your K. From then on, your strike temp predictions will be dead simple and repeatable on your system..

Our water calculator makes brew day simple. Plug in your grain bill, mash thickness, target pre-boil gravity, and target mash temperature. It calculates the math for strike volume, sparge volume, and strike temperature without considering the type of tun you use or the method of heating. It’s system-agnostic out of the box, and with a quick tune of the heat balance constant, you’ll hit the exact numbers every time. Brew, record, tweak once, and you’re locked in. If you’re searching for a “water calculator,” this is the one you actually want.
